When: Sunday the 25th at 11:00 AM
Where: Carondolet Park at the entrance from Grand Ave.
What: It's a Pumpkin Race! Each participant will need $5 for entry. We'll be riding out to Rombach Farms in Chesterfield to select and purchase pumpkins. We will haul the pumpkins back to my house near Carondolet Park where the pumpkins will be weighed. The heaviest pumpkin will win the pot of money.
This pumpkin race will be open to all rides, all clubs, etc. If you show up on a 50cc and can't keep up, you'll have to ride by yourself. Also, if you get a huge pumpkin and fall and bust your head open, well, that's on you. You ride at your own risk.
ROUTE: Loughborough to Gravois to Lindbergh to Manchester to Kerhs Mill to WHCR to Long to Olive to Pumpkin Patch. Per Google Maps, it's about 1 hour 15 min. Map here.
Afterward, those who are so inclined are invited into to my house for cider sipping and story telling.
Here's last year's thread on the ride. _________________ Matthew

i did a quick look at last years thread, but couldn't find the winning weight. What was the weight on the winning pumpkin last year? _________________ 81 Honda C70 Passport |

Would using my timbuk2 bag strapped to my back be considered cheating? It would still be technically sitting on the rear rack since I wear it low and resting on the rear rack. I've hauled a case of beer in it before no problem

There are a couple of rules that should be mentioned.
1. Your pumpkin needs to be attached to your bike somehow, someway. A bag won't work for this.
2. You can not use a sidecar or trailer.
3. If your pumpkin falls off during the ride you are disqualified.
4. There's going to be a reasonable amount of time at the pumpkin patch to select and strap your pumpkin in. If you miss the boat when the group rolls out then you are out.
That's all I can think of. This is going to be a fun event. _________________ Matthew

In light of recent events we have decided to do something a little different with the money collected for the ride. It would be a nice gesture to turn the ride into a bit of a fundraiser for Myke, who is reeling from his recent scooter accident. So, instead of collecting the pot of cash for the pumpkin, the winner would get a trophy or some other item TBD and the cash would be donated to Myke's scooter relief fund.
I am looking forward to this event. Anyone else? _________________ Matthew

Oh holy crap thank you.
I saw this thread was updated, thought it was just a reminder about the event, so I was gonna post something about how I had really been looking forward to the event and that people should go. Totally wasn't expecting a fund raiser. Thank you thank you.
Um, also, I was really looking forward to this ride, and people should go go go! _________________ '68 Vespa Sprint; '78 Puch Magnum XK; '80 Vespa P125X; '05 Genuine Stella; '01 Aprilia SR50 Ditech
