How has your mileage dropped? Reliability issues? Power increases and torque? Help me decide if this is the route to go.

Love that kit. It was probably what killed my stock Indian crank, though. I haven't opened it up yet to see.

As far as your questions: mileage dropped significantly, it was reliable for almost one year on a stock Stella bottom end with zero issues, power was improved through the mid and upper RPMs, it was torquey enough to pull the front wheel off the ground a bit in 3rd when hammering on it.

It's the best of the 150 kits, in my opinion.

If you want one, I've got one that has been softsiezed. I got it offa Ebay with intents to use it, but I may never get to it. Bore it out, new piston and rings, wristpin circlips, and you should be good to go.

I had good luck with Pinasco, but if it is going on a Stella I'd change the crank... Had crap luck with Polini. Mallosi is good stuff...

One of my first scooters was a '79 P125 that I wound up putting a Malossi 166 kit on, with a Polini right-side exhaust.I only rode it a few times as I ended up getting a P200 right then and turned my attention towards it.

However in the hew rides I took with it, my "seat of the pants" dyno said it was quicker than the stock P200! (but less top speed) At least I didn't have any problems keeping up in the stop-and-go with Shirley, JB (on the Rally Shirley now rides), James, Dougie, etc after that... That Polini pipe was absolutely obnoxious though!

It's almost shameful that I;m thinking of upgrades. My bike runs strong already but scooters are always capable of something more with the right mix of parts and know how. Hey Matthew, what type of mileage drop are we talking about? What type of crank would you recommend?

From what I've read on various forums, the best way to go short of dropping a P200 in it is to add a DR or Malossi 166 and a 226 H-Bomb, upjet to 138-140, drop in the Boyesson Reed I've had on my desk for months and possibly upgrade the carb to a 24/24 with an open element filter. Let me not forget to add a crank since stock won't hold up to all of this, and the port matching for all of the add on stuff. It would be fast as s**t but mileage and reliability are gone at that point. Somehow I think Myke's suggestion to drop in a mildly modded P200 makes more sense. What makes even more sense is to leave the Stella alone and get another bike and get stupid with that so at least I have something to ride while I wrench on the project bike.

That's always the best plan of action, if you can do it.

There's a 2003 Vento Triton R3 on Craigslist for $175.00 thats tempting. These have the horizontal GY6 engines don't they? I know there's all sorts of aftermarket support for these. I just wonder what happened to it. The pics show a different story than what hes saying.

It's Chinese crap. And it's already broken.

as long as you match the ports ( that is abit of work you have to completley dissasemble the engine to do it right) and rejet accordingly then a new pipe you will be ok as long as you dont beat on it. if you have all stock internals go pinasco minimal porting aluminum and great for touring some torque some top end. the malossi is all top end screaming if thats what you want go with it but without a crank and better cluthc you will have engine salad. theres that hot rod ed or dave guy that ports polinis and stuff but ive never tested his products.

You could also call Robert Carver at 314-766-6291. He has ported 2 of my engines. My rally 200 with the Pinasco kit and a 226 vintage pipe made a world of difference.
